Details for the Woodland Birds Workshop

10/05/11
This Woodland Birds Photography workshop is ideal for anyone wanting to get close images of woodland birds on perches between 5 and 7 metres away in a private woodland.
The hide is suitable for 3 photographers and to ensure it remains comfortable, a maximum of two photographers will be using the hide on the day.
The workshop starts at 8am and runs until 3pm to 4pm (light permitting) on the outskirts of Norwich in private woodland.
Taking place on weekends starting mid November 2012 and running through to the end of March 2013 its a great experience and makes the perfect Christmas gift.I've photographed a number of species from the hide and images can be see on my Flickr site if you Click Here
Two key species that visit the hide are Eurasian Nuthatch and Great Spotted Woodpecker. Using simple techniques these birds can be photographed on natural perches against clean backgrounds as they feed on the desired perch(s).
Ideally, you require a 400mm lens or greater to get those frame filling images. A tripod can be used and is recommended as it allows for an easy transition from landscape to portrait mode. You can also use a bean bag or other support on the hide opening to rest and steady your camera/lens. Owing to the close proximity of the perches/birds, those using a 600mm lens may require a 12mm extension tube to lower the focus distance. A flash gun is also recommended incase the light condition is poor on the day you visit.
Priced at only £85 per person for the maximum two person day this is a perfect day out in a Norfolk Woodland and also makes a great gift. Those wanting to undertake a single person session with me at the hide can do this at a cost of £95 for the day.I recommend warm clothing for the cold conditions you can experience at this time of the year and please bring your own food and drink. There are no WC facilities on site.
