The Oystercatcher (Haematopus Ostralegus) is a large stocky black and white wading bird. It has a distinctive long orange-red bill and a striking red eye. In flight as shown here, it shows a wide white wing-stripe, a black tail, and a white rump that extends as a ‘V’ between the wings. This bird was photographed flying low at Snettisham in North Norfolk.
