Stonechats (Saxicola Torquata) are about the size of a Robin. This Male has the striking black head with white around the side of their neck, orange-red breasts and a mottled brown back. Females lack the male’s black head, but have brown backs and an orange tinge to their chests. This little bird gave me the run around at Minsmere in Suffolk for some time on a hot summers day.
However, I persevered and finally got a few shots of it perched on this small branch.
