This female Kingfisher (Alcedo Atthis) sat patiently on the snowy post waiting for the right time to strike. Photographed on a freezing winters morning, almost all the stream had frozen over, all except on spot where she sat.
Even on a dull misty morning, the vibrant colours of this beautiful bird show so well.

Equipment: Canon Eos 1DsMk2, Canon 500mm F4L IS Lens.
